Ladyfest Berlin is a platform of several days' duration to present feminist and queer art, literature and music, bound in a worldwide network.

The history of Ladyfest traces back to the Riot Grrrl movement in the US in the beginning of the 90s.

When the term of »girl« was more and more adopted by the fashion and music industries, the grrrls acquired the tougher and more mature »lady« to create a new subversive term.

So they formed a more fitting and sovereign identity to show that feminism can be cool, refractory, sexy and nasty at the same time.
